“Our local MP came into school and talked about the books he read as a child. What an inspiration!”

We are the Year 4,5 & 6s at Armathwaite Community Primary School in Cumbria. We love reading! We have enjoyed reading the book challenge books so far and they are 'hot off the shelves' to be read each time someone finishes one.

The Mysterious Misadventures of Clemency Wrigglesworth

Katie Parmenter, 9

I really enjoyed reading the mysterious misadventures of Clemency Wriggleworth

Clemency is utterly penniless and entirely alone until she's thrust into an adventure and she doesn't even that yet but then a frightening Miss Clawe comes and takes her away to her aunt's house and forced to be a maid. She is extremely confused as to why this has happened. Meanwhile, some not quite so 'red Indians' set out to find her and then an unexpected murder happens and her troubles stop very quickly.

There was so many different adventures and mysterys hidden inside the whole book. I really liked all of the description throughout the book and the way the author had written the book as they gave it a real good twist to it. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure books.

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

Caitlin, 10

I really enjoyed reading Timmy Failure when I got it I couldn't put it down. Its about a boy called Timmy and his second name is Failure. He is a Detective he thinks he's the best detective in the town maybe the country NO !!! the World. In the book Timmy's first case is at a boy called Gunner's House because his candy has gone missing ( what a dreadful case but Timmy takes it seriously because he's a proper Detective ).

In the book Timmy has lots of friends but he's got a best friend his full name is Charles Rollo Tookus but Timmy just calls him Rollo . In Timmy's point of view all Rollo cares about is getting good grades. Thires also Molly Monkus she loves Timmy so she'll do anything for him . Timmy's got a mum and at the moment she's got a boy friend . Another close family member is Total he is Timmy's Polar bear and when every Timmy's on a case total will defiantly be in the bins.

This story is wonderful if not a little bazar. I loved this book so much that I brought the second one and it's just as brilliant as the first . before the best books award I had never heard of Stephan Pastis and now he's my favourite writer . I recommend this book to anyone . I loved it .

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

Timmy Failure is a very funny and interesting book. I would recommend it to people that like adventures and detective work, but really anyone can read it. The book is about a boy called Timmy Failure (he is actually a failure so it isn't just a nickname!!!) Timmy has a polar bear called Total (although my nickname for him would be Total Fail!) Together they try to get money by solving crimes, so far they are doing quite well until they find out that they are not actually making any money! Timmy has his eye on the top tower building office in the middle of the city. It has a lovely view. That is why Timmy needs money, to save up for his dream office. He says that it only costs £100,00 a mouth!!!!!! So I think that you can see his problem! Timmy Failure is the best book I have ever read in my whole life!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck

Barney Pannone, 9

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck is a hilarious jaw dropping book, that I could read over and over again and I would never get bored of it. When I read it I try and find something bad about it but I just can't. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wondering if they should get it.

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

Rozzie, 10

This is a woefully witty book, with Timmy so passionate and over-confident about his work and so (apparently) professional that he won't, under any circumstances look at the obvious, let alone get advice from anyone else (shock horror!) A wonderful book.
